Fast Track the Cure presents petition on sidelines of UN HLM or AMR

Amid the United Nations High Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance, at Stop TB Partnership’s Breaking the Resistance: Fighting AMR and TB Together for a Healthy Future event, Dr. Robyn Waite presented Fast Track the Cure’s petition, signed by more than 15,000 people across more than 150 countries, urging global leaders to commit to providing access to six-month drug-resistant TB treatments for all by the end of 2024. The attendees, including heads of state, funding organizations, thought leaders, activists, and community representatives erupted into a rousing chant of, “Yes we can - End TB!” Fast Track the Cure extends its gratitude for all who signed the petition, spread the word, and work everyday to develop new and better TB technologies and to advocate for a stronger, better-resourced global response to TB.

From The Black Angels to BPaL, and Beyond

Fast Track the cure held a webinar featuring Maria Smilios, author of the hit book, The Black Angels, who shared the story of a group of unsung nurses at Sea View Hospital in Staten Island, New York who played a critical role in the discovery of isoniazid. The story reflects the way issues of health intersect with those of stigma, politics, and resources. She was then joined by TB Alliance president and CEO, Mel Spigelman, who offered insights on the parallels of the stories of TB research past and the struggles that pervade in TB research today.

Fast Track the Cure Lunch and Learn at The Union Conference 2024

In Bali, Indonesia, along side the Union Conference partners and community members from around the world met learn about how Fast Track the Cure is raising awareness of six-month drug-resistant TB cures and helping to ensure they’re available to all who need them. Participants also won prizes and participated in a flash mob Jingle Performance led by our talented partners at Yayasan KNCV Indonesia.

Symposium - Fast tracking the cure: Lessons from coordinating cross country community-based advocacy to accelerate uptake and implementation of 6-month drug-resistant TB treatments

This symposium during the 2024 Union Conference brought global TB stakeholders together to in Bshare outcomes, experiences, and lessons from two years of partnership and advocacy for equitable access to BPaL/M. The symposium focused on community engagement, cross-country consortium building, storytelling, and treatment access advocacy.

We Are The Resistance: Communities Advancing New Cures for TB and Fighting AMR

Ahead of the United Nations High Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), this web event brought together communities to share real world examples of their work to build awareness and understanding of BPaL/M amongst civil society and TB-affected communities globally, rally champions for rapid and universal adoption of #6MonthsMax treatments, let people know how the can support Fast Track the Cure, and connect this work to the broader goals of combatting AMR.
